TIPS | APPS for Taking Children Out!

Before your children go to daycare or when your children are on vacation, have you ever struggled to find something to do to keep your children busy? Have you ever wanted to rush out of the apartment and take your children to anywhere that can release your children’s  energies? 

Indoor playground, children’s restaurant, pet zoo, play room, exhibitions, children’s farm, aquarium, kart racing, DIY for kids, rideable remote controlled cars, Disneyland etc.   

Here are several different apps worth to explore. Collecting coupons from those apps now and make it cheaper to entertain your children. By the way, they are not only for children, they also have coupons for adults. Isn’t it tempting?

1. Caibeike(彩贝壳)  

2. Maitaoqinzi (麦淘亲子）

3. Zhoumojiudian(周末酒店）

4. Dazhongdianping(大众点评）

For taking children out, my favorite app is caibeike(彩贝壳). It covers more places. I would like to use this app as an example to show you how to use it. I hope it can help you get to explore other apps!

What does it includes...

There are coupons for the children's play centers, hotels , Disneyland and online courses for children etc. It is showed on the top of the main page.

There are two kinds of coupons. One is called “一人团”, you can buy it on your own. The other is called “2人团”(group ticket for two)or“ 3人团”(group ticket for three), which means you have to buy it with others as a group of 2 or 3 people.

If the coupon is a group ticket, click the page and you will see “一键开团”（start a group), and you can click it to start a group. You can also send the link to someone who wants to buy the coupon as well to complete the purchase.

How to use it ? 

Click “我的”(my account)，it is on the bottom of the home page. The coupons you buy will go to“我的订单”(my order). 

Next, click “待预约” （pending reservation) to make the reservation.  After you make the reservation, the coupon will show in the “待打卡”(clock in). You will be asked to do the clock in in front of the gate before you step in. Tell the clerk the magic word , “彩贝壳” (caibeike)，then they will show you a QR code to scan to do the clock in. 

What should you know

1. Use or resell it before it expires 

Most of the coupons valid for months. Some coupons will be refunded if they expire. It says “过期退”(refund when it expires) and some will not be refunded. Most of them can be “转让”(reselled). Go to the “我的订单”(my order), click the “待预约”(pending reservation), you will see several rectangles show under the coupons saying “转让”(resell),  “赠送”(give away) , “预约” (reservation).

About reselling, after you click resell, they will ask you to enter the price that you want to sell. Normally, it will go away fast if you make a lower price. Few of them can’t be refunded or  reselled. You can give it away(you can sell if you want), except those coupons that are asked for IDs when purchase. The coupons of the hotel usually ask you to use your ID when you book.

2.  Make sure if you need to do the reservation in advance.

There are different kinds of coupons. Some you can go whenever you want before the place closes and some you need to make an appointment a few days in advance. It shows in the “购买须知” (purchase details).

3. Other details about the coupons

Normally the details show right under the coupon’s title. It can be “不限时” (unlimited), or“下午场” (in the afternoon), also“夜场” (in the night) etc. Check out the age range, the height range to see if your kids qualify.

For example, the Amazon climbing thing, they do not let your children in if they are below 110cm. Check out how many people does it include. See if it is for “1大1小” (1 child 1 adult), or “2大1小” (1child 2 adults). If adding children or adults costs more, it is better buy one more coupon instead.

4. What you might need to bring

If you are going to indoor playground, you will be asked to wear socks, either buy them there or bring your own. If you are going to the swimming pools or spas, you will be asked to put on waterproof diapers on your baby. Bring all according to the coupon and bring what you might need. I bet you might have them at home if you have children.

Editor's Message

I would say “彩贝壳” (caibeike) and “麦淘亲子” (maitaoqinzi) are similar. They are both child friendly apps. Check them out before you want to take the children out. 

About “周末酒店” (weekend hotel) , it focuses more on the hotels, but it is also a children friendly app. They do not do the group booking. One thing you need to pay attention is most of the coupons from the weekend hotel cannot be refunded, but you can resell it. 

Talking about the last app, “大众点评”(dazhongdianping). I have been married to this app since I downloaded it the first day. I can’t live in shanghai without it. This article is talking about the coupons for taking children out, so I do not put it on the first place. Actually, it is a awesome app. It covers all areas of your life in shanghai. 

As I mentioned in the second paragraph, those apps are not only for children, also for adult friendly. Give youself time to relax and chance to have daydream, because sometimes we might need the break to recharge the batteries. From now on, track down coupons for restaurants, afternoon tea, hairdressers, beauty salons, spas, massage shops etc.
